WELLINGTON UNION TEST SEATS IN GRANDSTAND A scheme whereby ten Rugby Unions within an area from Taranaki and Hawke's Bay in the north and Nelson and Marlborough in the south will share in a plan to ensure the proper distribution of grandstand s.eats for. the first Test match between New Zealand and the touring Springbok team was discussed in committee by the Wellington Rugby Union's management committee last n-qht. In a statement to the Tj'.-ss, Mr. J. N. Millard, the chairman, said that the intention was to distribute the, seats on a basis to be arranged for the purposes of preferential booking. It was likely, by the time seats had been allocated for the various unions and for the season ticket holders in the Athletic Park grandstand, that about 1200 seats would be open to the general public for booking for the match. In the meantime, it would be absolutely impossible to accept written applications for seats. Fixtures for June 5 were arranged as follows:— Senior A (First Division); Athletic v. Johnsonville, at Athletic Park. -■■■■■. Wellington v. Petone, at Petone. Wellington College Old Boys v, Marist Bros. Old Boys, at Anderson Park. i Eastbourne v. the other promoted team, at Eastbourne. : Hutt v. Poneke, at Hutt. .-. :..'■ In connection with the promotions, at the end of the firs.t round, Johnsonville will daflnitely go into the first division. The second second-division team to be promoted will not, however, be decided until Saturday. From the senior B grade, the Petone and Poneke teams will go into the second division after next Saturday: Other fixtures for June 5 are as .follows: — Senior A (Second Division). Oriental v. Poneke, ground to be arranged. Mirnmsr ;v. Petone, at Petone. Athletic v. Pirates, to be arranged, 'mere will be one other game, yet to be decided, in the division. ' Senior B. The i»nd and,..lncome Tax.Department was. granted permission., to. play the State Advances Corporation at Kelburn Park on June 8. Subject to Athletic Park being in order., the Police v. Post and Telegraph Department's annual charity match will be played at the Park on June 23. .Entries for the lower-grade seven-a-side"tournament on June 9 will, close on June 2. On the King's Birthday, a complete round of senior, first division," matches will be played in addition to- the lower grade tournaments. On the recommendation of the junior advisory committee, it was decided that, to avoid teams travelling to grounds when the opposing sides were defaulting, cluhs should be circularised that the union's secretary, the opposing team, and'the referee should be advised of a default as soon as posj sible. _______
