INVALID'S PLEA

THE BLESSING OF HEALTH

A donation of 10s to the King George V National Memorial Fund has been received by the Mayor of Wellington (Mr. T., C. A. Hislop) from Mr. Barney Grass, who for two years has been an inmate of the Ewart Hospital, Wellington. In a letter accompanying his subscription, Mr. Grass writes as follows: — "Enclosed please find a postal note for 10s towards the fund; "I have been in this hospital for over two years, so I cannot afford it,, but I'll go a bit short of some odds and ends because it is for such a good cause. . In fact, I don't know of a better cause. If people would look after their health more than they do and help others to regain, theirs, especially the children, how much happier they would be. For health ' brings happiness and wealth, and after all what good is wealth with- j out health. I am sure that one" cannot J be ' happy without health. "I have travelled a. great deal since I'was'a little boy, and never bothered about my health. ; ■!■ was always on the go. But since I-have been here, I know what health means. I often say to people how happy I would be if I could get back my health and go back to the factory, and run .about the same as I used to. But there is no such luck. Therefore I,say again that people should look after their own health and, try to help others as much as possible to regain theirs. If you want a good strong building you must r-ave a solid foundation.... .Therefore, look after the children. That will provide a good foundation to the, people and the. country in., general." ]
