v LONDON, May 24. The Riga correspondent 'of "The Times" announces that • the Moscow air expedition has annexed the North Pole.. ' . \ '■'.'. The explorers Vhave christened the ice floe on which they landed "Comrade Stalin." Already they are; transmitting four weather bulletins daily to 'Moscow. They will live in an aluminium house, lift by 7ft, the floor of which is of rubber and the windows of unbreakable glass. The minimum temperature indoors, will be 14deg. F., though out of doors shortly it will be 14deg. below zero; The clothing of the men includes a complete covering of merino wool, pure silk underwear, flannel-lined breeches and shirts, reindeer fur suits, and fleece overcoats lined, with foxskin. .. ■ . ' ' ' . The Soviets-best chefs and dietitians worked for months to produce 'typical. Russian delicacies in tablet form, including borsch soup and also an "Arctic biscuit" comprising chicken, beef, and flour. , In the cable published yesterday announcing the landing of the expedition near the Pole,'it was stated that it was hoped to establish a permanent meteorological station and a Polar landing base for the projected MoscowSan Francisco air route. ■
