and they are in first and second places respectively on the championship ladder, with excellent percentages. Sussex being a little ahead of Gloucestershire. Most matches have been played by Sussex. Their total is six, whereas there are a number of teams which have had only two championship matches. Last year's champions, Derbyshire, are well down the list, but before the competition is well advanced there are bound to be * many changes of position on the ladder. The championship table is::—
