HUTTON MAKES A CENTURY
LONDON, May 22. In the M.C.C. Test trial match at Lord's in preparation for the engagement against New Zealand, the North team scored 246 for five wickets (J. Hardstaff 71, L. Hutton 102) against the South. The trial coincided with the Marylebene Club's one hundred and fiftieth birthday. Unhappily, it was spoilt by a drizzle which caused several delays. Hutton, who will be twenty-one iri June, played a meritorious if slow innings, with many good strokes, including a 6. Hardstaff's play was not up to Test standard.
