E. i Hefford, chief inspector of fisheries, I who will direct the research, announced on Saturday that appointments ias fresh-water biologists had been offerred to Messrs. D. F. Hobbs, Christchurch, and D. Cairns, Wellington. Miss V. X., Lawrey, Christchurch, has been appointed laboratory assistant at the special laboratory being fitted up in Wellington.
