STEAMSHIP COMPANY'S YEAR
A liet profit of £3383, against £5064 last year, was earned by the Northern Steamship Company, Ltd., of Auckland, for the year ended March 31. The directors recommend payment of a dividend of 3 per cent, for the year. No distribution was made last year, and 5 per cent, was paid in 3935. Added to the balance of working profit is £1049 brought forward, making £4432 available for distribution. The dividend requires £3390, leaving a balance in the profit and loss account of £1042. The profit this year is struck after allowing for depreciation and bad debts. Last year these items ■were not taken into account when arriving at the net profit.
