BOARD'S REQUEST

Interviewed, concerning the teachers affected by the decision to close the schools, the secretary of the Wellington , Education Board (Mr. W. ■I. Deavoll) said that he had already, received inquiries as to whether teachers would be permitted to travel to their homes in other districts. So far no steps had been taken to keep the teachers employed by. holding refresher courses or. by adopting some other means of utilising their services; but no doubt the matter would be considered forthwith. In the meantime, the board sought the ■ co-operation of the teachers in urging them to remain in1 their present'places of abode instead of. travelling to districts which were unaffected.. The board felt sure that this assistance would be readily given by air concerned..
