ALREADY CLOSED

WELLINGTON SCHOOLS

Up till this morning: nine schools under the jurisdiction of the Wellington Education Board had already been closed owing to the prevalence of 1 infantile paralysis. Of these, the Wadestown and Shannon schools had been reopened. The ' other . schools were Ohiro Bay, Berhampore, Newtown, Mt. Cook, Ngaio, Tawa Flat, and Martinborough. Before the order closing all primary schools was received today, .two further schools—Miramar South and Island Bay—were closed.

It is emphasised that the schools to be closed' are all those in the "Wellington city area, not merely the town area.. The northern boundary of the city area is' Johnsonyille (which is also brought under the ban), and, to the east, the; Hutt Valley and Eastbourne. The reason why the schools have not been - closed in the Hutt Valley- and Eastbourne is that no cases have been reported from these localities. ' ; ,
