DOUBLE FOR HIS STABLE
The Buzzer's stablemate The^Bigot completed a double for his trainer, L. G.. Morris, and; a treble' for his pilot, B. H: Morris'; when he ran an improved race to win the Adderstone Hack Handicap decisively by a couple of lengths from the outsider. Eara. '. The extra furlong apparently suited .him; betterthan the - sprint journey on '.the first day. ' '"■.' ■"'.:.:;; "■'
..The Bigot was always well-placed in behind the pacemaking Eara. he-moved Up in challenge at the .distance, and after a. brief struggle he took the upper hand and went on to eery victory.
Like The Buzzer.' The Bigot: is an Australian-bred thrse-year-old, and he claims excellent, relationship, as he is' a half-brother by Baralong to the A.J.C. Metropolitan winner Young Crusader, the horse who also led, for a great part of the way in the last Melbourne Cup. Bonnie Lady, their dam, is a New Zealand-bred daughter of Boniform. .:The Bigot is now owned by Mr. F. F.,'Newman,.of Wanganui, who secured him from Mr. F. ; J. Corlett early in the present season.- . Eara, after going through to.the front at"rthe end -of the first furlong, opened a break'on'her field arid attempted to steal the race. ' She is- an • improver who should be back on the winners' list before long. ; . - - : ; Seyfried came home from several places back for third,- a couple of lengths behind'Eara. Silver River'was fourth, but had "every apparent chance. Cloudy Bay finished ■•along the rail into fifth: Mister Quex and. Roaming were both disappointing.'.Roahiing was going fairly well' till.,the turn, then he appeared to be hanging, as Ellis -had to check him,- .as on the first day. Black Fox, the favourite, drifted early- and was never afterwards in I the picture., , ~..-■'■ Results of. the. racing were:— - Kairanga Hurdles Handicap, £175; l'J miles.—2 Royal .Mimic, 10.1 (C.
