THE ZOO'S WAY OUT

The Moscow Zoo, one' of the largest and most-frequented in the world, has solved the problem of its excess animal and bird population by distributing young pets to children on, a lottery basis. The scheme has proved extremely embarrassing to parents of many children who drew bear cubs, wild pigs, large birds, and other "psts" which they could not accommodate in their cramped living quarters. -. So many protests came in that the zoo had to agree to exchange such pets for smaller animals and birds. Some 7500 animals and birds were thus distributed. - .'■■.--.■'.:
