TRANSFERRING TO AUCKLAND
One of Wellington's best-known sportsmen, J. A. R. Blandford, who has represented New Zealand at cricket and whose omission from the team for this year's tour of England was surprising, has accepted an appointment with a business firm in Auckland, and will leave Wellington on Saturday to take up his new duties as manager of the sports department of the firm. Cricket is but one of the many branches of sport in which Blandfora has taken part.; In Melbourne he played the Australian Rules game, and in Wellington he'has played Rugby, doing quite well at full-back in University teams. Golf, too, has claimed a good deal of his attention. As a. member of the Paekakariki and Titahi Clubs he has recorded some good performances on the links, his handicap now being at 9-7. At tennis, too, he has been prominent, and has played in a number of tournaments, in one of which he was drawn against "Buster" Andrews., He is also a keen bad-i minton player. Taking cricket into account as well, Blandford should be a valuable addition to the ranks . of all-round sportsmen in Auckland.
