LAMB PRICES WEAKER
Levin and Co.v Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated April 9, giving North Island frozen meat quotations as follows: Down lambs, 28-3blb ( 7Jd per lb; 36-42 lb, 6 7-8 d per lb; crossbred lambs, 28----ilb'lb, 7d per lb; 36-421b,, 6%d per, lb; second quality lambs,, average 30-311b, 6%d 'per lb; wethers, under 481b, s£d per lb; 48-561b, 5 l-8d per-lb; 56-641b, 4 5-8 d per lb; 64-721b, 4Jd per lb; ewes, under 481b,"4id per lb; 48-561b,4£d per lb; 56-641b, 4 l-8d per lb; 64-721b, 4d per lb; ; New Zealand prime ox Beef, 160----2201b, none offering. Compared with last week's,quotations, crossbred lamb 28-361b, l-8d per lb lower; wethers, under 481b, i-8d per lb' lower; ewes, 48----721b, l-8d per lb lower; others unchanged. The market is steady. The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business this, week:—The mar-ket-for wethers is rather easier. Larger supplies of ewes have caused prices to weaken. The. 'market is weaker for first-quality lambs, light seconds, remain firm. There is a fair demand for chilled beef. Trade generally slow. Wethers, light 4 5-8 dto 5Jd per lb, heavy 4 l-8d to 4Jd; ewes, 3Jd to'4id; lambs, 2!s 7d to 7 l-Bd, B's 6Jd to 6 7-Bd, 4's 6 3-8 dto 6id, seconds 6Jd to 7 l-8d; chilled hinds 4id to sd, fores 3£d to 4d.
