A CURIOUS POSITION
COUNCILS AT VARIANCE

(The Awatere .County -. Council .resolved,'to, take.no further action, and the' Marlborough County' .Council,", unaware of this, decided to approach the Awatere council with a view to achieving an amicable amalgamation.
At the Awatere council's meeting the chairman said-he could not see any use in reducing the number' of local bodies unless it was going to make for efficiency and economy, and in that regard he felt that the Awatere council could show the others the way. "It would be impossible for our council to come to any conclusion-with the Miarlborough County Council, and we had better wait for the proposed court to decide the matter," he said.
