PROBLEM CHILDREN
A survey, conducted by the "Big Brother and Big Sister Federation" of New York shows that 2.3 per cent, of school children in New York State are "problem children." The survey was conducted with the aim'of discovering possible methods of treating or training problem children, who were defined as those out of adjustment with their surroundings. About 58 per cent, of the children reported as "problems" were between the ages of nine and fourteen. Defective home conditions were found responsible for many of the problem children, but physical defects were found in 55 per cent, of those in the State.
