FOR EMPIRE USE

THANKS FOR KING'S GOOD QUALITIES

(Received March 1, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, February 27. The Bishop of Norwich has prepared a form of prayer and intercession for use throughout the Empire in Coronation week and also to be used at the day of prayer function at the Queen's Eall on May 11.

The prayer refers to. disciples of Jesus Christ of every language under every sky who are pjeased and proud to acknowledge the Sovereignty of the King-Emperor, in whom the people of Britain and the Dominions find fellowship. It emphasises the four-fold loyalty involved in the Coronation, firstly to Gpd, secondly to the King, thirdly to country and Empire, and fourthly to "our best selves as children of God." The prayer offers thanks for the courage, calmness, and industry, steadying the nation in a time of shock and strain, with which the King has accepted his heavy task, and for the King's interest in the welfare of toilers and of all needing protection, for peace and joy in the King's home, for the simplicity of his life, his ease and friendly happiness, his comradeship with the young, his habit of worship, and love of duty, and for all gifts and graces that have been granted him. It adds that his.Majesty represents the supreme centre of unity, and is the head of a growing family, every member of which is summoned to assume his own responsibility for the good of the family and for God's glory.
