METCALFE AT COLOGNE
(Received August 12, 11 a.m.) COLOGNE, August 11. At an international athletic meeting in the 100 metres the American negro, R. Metcalfe, equalled the world record of 10 3-10 sec, beating Owens, who did 10 2-ssec. The. 800 metres resulted:—Backhouse (Australia), lmin 54Jsec, 1; Dessecker (Germany), lmin 54 7-10 sec, 2; Williamson (U.S.A.), lmin 54 4-ssec 3
