FARMERS' COUNCIL
CHALLENGE TO UNION ?
INFERENCE REFUTED
(By Telograph.) (Sp«ia! to the "Evening Post.") NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. The formation of the new Farmers' Council to co-operate with the Government has been accepted in Taranaki as a challenge to the^ Farmers' Union, the leaders of which deny lack of such co-operation.
"I claim that this is a direct challenge to the Farmers* Union that it has not done its job," said Mr. T. T. Murray, president at the Stratlord executive, last night. "The inference is that the Farmers' Union has let the farmers down. I do not know who is behind the organisation, but if 'it is desired to form an organisation for political purposes it should be formed in the open. It is not that there is no co-operation between the union and the Government. We just do not agree on certain matters."
