WEEKEND TRIP TO AUCKLAND.
Anticipating widespread interest in two big football matches at Auckland next Saturday—the League; Test match, England v. -New Zealand, .and the North Island final for the Association Chatham Cup—the Railway Department has decided to run a special excursion train next Friday evening." It is timed to reach Auckland at 11.14 a.m. on Saturday, leave at 3.5 p.m. on' Sunday,- and arrive at Wellington at: 6.47 a.m. on Monday. The return fare of only 30s 6d from Wellington and' proportionately low charges from' intermediate stations are expected to cause big booking, so early reservation of seats is advised. Mr. F. H. Porter was appointed last evening to represent the Wellington School Committees and, Educational Federation at the conference of the Dominion Federation of School Com-1 mittees' Associations of New Zealand, which will be held in Dunedin next week. If Mr.. Porter is unable to attend Mr. N. A. Ingram will act as proxy.
