Stage directions were read by Coralie Smythson. The play to be read next is "Eden End," the famous J. B. Priestley comedy. "Gift Eveninff." A "gift evening" to Miss Nancy Patrick, who left. Wellington recently to join her parents, in Oamaru, was given by Mr. and Mrs..W. F. Ponder, at the Rex- Hall, Kilbirnie, when about 80 young people assembled and enjoyed dancing and games. Mrs. Ponder, wearing a henna crepe fur-trimmed frock, and Miss Patrick, wearing ivory crepe, received the guests, and Mr. W. F, Ponder, jun., was M.C. At supper Mr. ,W. F. Ponder, sen., and Mr. J. Walker extended to Miss Patrick the best, wishes of her frifends.for her future happiness, and their appreciation of her valuable services 'in church and social life. The opening of the gift parcels revealed a delightful assortment of presents. Karori Mothers' Union. ' A.meeting of the Karori branch of the Mothers' Union was held recently in the Parish Hall. Mrs. Houston, M.I.S.Ch. (Lon.), M.N.A.C., London Foot Hospital, was the speaker for the afternoon, her subject being "The Care of the Human Foot in Childhood." Mrs. Keeling proposed a vote of thanks to Mrs. Houston for her interesting and instructive talk. Tea, served by Mesdames ' Stevens and Shapcott, ". concluded an enjoyable afternoon.' • . Mount Cook O.G.A. , The third general meeting. of the Mount Cook Old Girls' Association was held in the'Mount-Copk Main School buildings. There was a very good attendance. The next meeting will", be held in September. The association is forming a tennis club, and all old girls are invited to join. Miss B. Chudley is the honorary^ secretary. Recipe Submitted. In response to a request for a recipe for grapefruit marmalade a correspondent has sent the following:—lngredients: 3 grapefruit, 2 lemons, 10 breakfast cups of water, 7.}lb sugar. Cut up the fruit and cover with the water and let stand till the next day, then boil for half an hour. The following day heat again and add the sugar and boll for another half-hour.
