PETONE COUNCIL

TWO VACANCIES

Two vacancies will have to be filled on the Petone Borough Council as the result of the resignation of Councillor R. W. Toomath last evening. Councillor V. A. Noble has not been able to occupy his place at the council table for gome time as the result of ill health. Councillor Toomath said that he regretted having to tender his resignation, but of late he had had to give so much time to his own business that he could not attend to the council business. He wished to wait for the loaa poll to be taken, but Councillor Noble's position had to be filled, so he tendered his resignation now. The Mayor (Mr. A. Scholefield), members of the council, and the Town Clerk (Mr. H. Firth) paid warm tributes to Councillor Toomath's services, particularly as chairman of the reserves committee. .
