DAIRY MARKETS
QUIET TO FIRM
(By T slesraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received August 10, 11 a.m.) LONDON, August 9. The butter market is slightly firmer after a quiet and dragging holiday market.
The Continental market will probably have a strong bearing upon the future course of values, as America, with a big shortage in production, is taking an interest in Dutch, Polish, and other descriptions of butter and may shortly be a heavy buyer.
The New Zealand Producers' 'Cooperative Marketing . Association's weekly cabled market report from London dated August 7, is as follows: — Butter market quiet. New Zealand 117s to 118s, Danish 125s to 1265. Cheese market quiet. New Zealand white 63s 6d to 645, coloured 625.
A. H. Turnbull and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their principals, W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated London, August 7:—"Both markets are firm. Butter. Danish 1265, New Zealand finest 117s, Kangaroo 116s. Cheese, New Zealand white 63s New Zealand coloured 625." The Bank of New South Wales is advised by its London office, August 8, as follows: —Butter, 118s per cwt; cheese, white 655, coloured 635.
