The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today, is for light to fresh south-westerly winds, which in the south will veer to westerlies again. The weather will be cool and changeable with passing showers in most districts, but it will gradually improve.
Strong northerly to westerly winds prevailed-yesterday, and were accompanied by further rain in all western areas and in Otago and Southland. Fine weather was general in areas to the east of the main ranges. Since early this morning, however, the last of the recent series of westerly depressions has passed eastward off the Dominion, and an anti-cyclone is now approaching from the Tasman Sea. A change to south-westerly or southerly winds has therefore taken place in most parts of the country and the rain has extended to parts of the East Coast of the South Island. The southerly change has also been accompanied' by cooler temperatures.
Auckland had fair to cloudy weather yesterday with a light westerly wind. Sonic showers, however, fell during the night and it was still showery at 9 a.m.- today, up to which hour two points of rain had been recorded. A south-westerly breeze was then blowing. ■ . .

Dunedin had bright and sunny weather with a light north-westerly wind up to 1.30 p.m. It then became overcast, and a strong westerly wind set in and was accompanied by occasional heavy showers, which totalled 18 points of rain.
