MORE PLAYS PRESENTED
_An interested audience in the Town ■lit ?, oncert Chamber watched last night the production of four more oneact plays as part of the annual festival of community drama which has been arranged by the British Drama League, Miss Elizabeth Loe is adjudicator on" ■this_ occasion, and at the dose of last night s performances she" gave some helpful criticisms. The results of the competition will not be announced until Saturday evening, when the Wellington team to compete in the North Island final will be chosen. "The Pardoner's Tale," a 'morality play adapted from Chaucer, was presented by the Rongotai- Collage Old Boys Dramatic Society <as the first item on the evening's programme. The cast, included J. Were, H. Guthrie, R. Pntchard, and N.. Cathie, A. S. Farquhar being the producer. A play dealing with a girls' school m Germany was "Children in Uniform." which the Marsden Old Girls' Drama Club produced with the following cast: Valeric Robertson, Alison Purdy, Molly Goldfinch, Mollie Brown, Jonet Wilkie, Patricia White, Annette Harcourt, Mary Marsden, and Gwenda Hazelton. The producers were Mrs. J. Williams and Miss C. Morice.
"Eleven A.M." was the title of the Pandora Musical and ' Dramatic Society's offering. This was produced by K. Aitken with a cast made up of P. W. Cousins, R. A. Hollands, Grace Walpole, Gladys Morgan, and C. P. Whatman. It had a war flavour, the scene being a cellar in Belgium on November 11, 1918. ' •
The final play of the evening was "Slow Curtain," which Doris Hussey produced for the Junior branch of the Navy.League Drama Circle. This play, which deals with the stage, had the following cast: Sonia Caselberg, Irene Spidy, Doris Hussey, Noeline Cramond, Lola Thompson, and Mollie Thompson. The four plays for tonight's programme, which begins at 7.30 p.m., are:—"The Valiant" (Wellington Repertory Theatre), "Queen Street" (All Saints Players), "Ladies-in-Waiting" • (Lyceum Club Drama Circle), and "A Marriage has been Disarranged" (Pioneer Club- Drama Circle). The festival closes with four more plays on Saturday evening, after the production of which the awards will be announced and trophies and certificates presented. ■
