MEMORIAL SERVICE

LATE MR. J. A. THOMSON

The esteem in.which the late Ml-. J. Armour Thomson, session cjerk at; St. Andrew's Church, was held; was shown by the crowded attendance at ;the memorial service at St. Andrew's yesterday afternoon. Representatives of the Civil Service- and the various activities with, which Mr. Thomson was associated,'including the Wellington Rugby Union and the Athletic Football Club, were present.' ;"TKelservice was conducted by the. Rev. A". B. Kilroy, minister of St. Andrew's, 0, assisted by the Rev. D. .M. Hercus, Moderator of the Wellington Presbytery, the Rev. R. Inglis, clerk ,of ;the Wellington Presbytery, the Rev. J; H. McKenzie, clerk of the Generals-As-sembly; and the Rev. H. A. Mitchell (son-in-law of the deceased). Also present were the Revs. James McCaw, J. S. Murray, J..C.^Loan, J. W. Hunt, J. R. Blanchard, D, D. Scott, E. J. Orange, Archibald Hunt, and D. Calder.

In an eloquent address Mr. Kilroy paid a tribute to the great services of Mr. Thomson to the Presbyterian Church, his fine qualities as a husband and father, his and loyal character, arid his kindly disposition.

The service:at-the; affmatorium was conducted by the Rev. A. B. Kilroy, assisted by the Rev. J. R. Blanchard. The pall-bearers were Messrs. N. H. G. McFarlane, J.-Harper,-J.-W. Jack, A. Kirk, F. C- Standidge, and A. T. Orange.
