JUNIOR WOMEN'S CLUB

An enjoyable afternoon was spent by members of the Y.W.C.A. Junior Women's Club recently.- The- programme consisted of 5-minute speeches by club members on "The, Humanitarian Work of the League of Nations," arid "Women Peacemakers." Different members gave <an account of the valuable work done for the League of Nations by Dame Rachel Crdwdy, Froken Jeppe, Mrs. Coombe Tennant, Dame Edith Lyttelton, and Madame Curie. The work done by the League against the traffic in dangerous drugs, the. white slave traffic, and the spread of infectious diseases was also touched on.

The- vice-president, Mrs. Quinn, presided, ond prefaced the speeches with a few words on the general work of the League of Nations.

Speeches were made by Miss Williams and-Mesdames Barker; Elgar, Janisch, White, and Tennet. ■

Afternoon tea was served. The hostesses for the function were, Mesdames Parker and Robson. N

,Mrs. Marshall. Macdonald presided at a meeting of the Mothers' Helpers. There was a good attendance of membersi i.., The,"secretary reported that the services of^the helpers are being taxed to' the. utmost at 'present-owing to various epidemics, infection being always carefully avoided.
