Kitchen Tea.

\A very' happy time was spenl by a number, of young people in St. Thomas's Hall recently when a kitchen tea given by Mrs. McClean in honour of her niece, Miss Madge Coles, whoso marriage will take place at the end of tho month. A delicious supper was served, and Mr. Jack McClean helped the success of the party by "being a capable M.C. The bride-elect, who wore peach chiffon ' velvet, was 'the recipient of many useful gifts.

Card v rarty

The card party held at the club rooms of the Kilbirnie R.S.A. was well attended lasttnight and' the games played were keenly contested and some excellent score cards were .returned. The "bridge", prizes were won by Mrs. C. Honeyfield and Mr.-S. O'Brien, and Mrs. S. Stewart and Mr. L. Stewart were successful at the "500." The members of the ladies' committee were again responsible for the serving. of a delightful! supper, a feature, which plays no small part in the success; of the regular Tuesday evening functions. Mr. P. Coira, on behalf of the committee, thanked those present for their attendance, and drew the. attention'of the ladies that this week the usual ladies' card afternoon will beheld, the proceeds oil which are devoted exclusively to the assistance fund. There is an opportunity for those who do not play cards to indulge in the game oC indoor bowls.
