WHERE 'CHASERS PAY

An owner of steeplechasers was the I leading owner in South Australia for | the season just closed. This is Mr;. W. P. A. Lapthorne, whose horses won ten steeplechases worth £3792. The principal contributor was Gnair, winr ncr of the Great Eastern Steeples at the Onkaparinga Centenary Meeting. Mrs. E. E. Jolly was fifth on the list !with five wins for. £1168, and her'husband was close, up seventh with seven wins for £1074. Mr. and Mrs. Jolly usually secure some of their horses from the National sales at Trenthairi. Their trainer, G. R. Jesser, was at the head of the trainers' list,-with twenty successes. H. Bastian, with 36 wins, scored nearly twice as many points as the next on. the jockeys' list.
