MOVE BY HARRIERS

"At the meeting of the ■Wellington centre of the N.Z.A,A.A. held last evening it/was moved that several remits concerning "the" control-of -amateur athletics in; New; Zealand be forwarded to rthe -New Zealand Amateur Athletic As. sociation Council.'for., consideration by the harrier conference at Afickland on August 29. ■ \

'^Included in the remits was the following:—"That the system' of govern|ingand r controlling amateur athletics , in.New Zealand be reviewed and reorganised by creating- independent bodies to manage and control the track ,and harrier activities respectively. To bring about this reorganisation it is recommended: (a) That the rules and , constitution of the . N.Z.A.A.A. be 1 amended ,to-provide for the establishment of cross-country (harrier) centres constituted similarly to the existing centres, ,and>' co-extensive ' with ; such centres having jurisdiction,of governing , arid 'controlling all matters and affairs exclusively appertaining to harrier running.' APPLICATION FOR GRANT.

A letter was received'from the harrier sub-committee in which it was stated that the' latter committee was prbposirig^.to nominate a team of six with\ a to represent the Wellington centre at the New Zealand cross-country championships, to be held at Auckland on August 29. The subcommittee applied for a grant of '£45 to' cover expenses.

| It was moved by Mr. R. Watterson .and seconded by Mr. R. Dawkins that the ,'£4s be,granted. An amendment |was moved.by Mr. D: Wilson and sec- ■ onded'by Mr. H. CliSord that £30 be granted. "Considerable discussion ensued and the amendment was lost, the motion b"efng carried.- , , ' Messrs. R. Watterson and L. F. Dawkins were appointed delegates to the harrier" conference and Mr. Dawkins manager- of .the Wellington team for Auckland. Mr.iL-F.
