PIPE BAND CONCERT
\ The Labour Hall at Petone was crowded on Sunday night last when tiie Wellington Caledonian Society's Pipe Band gave a concert in aid of Us new uniform funds. 'The function was a great success.
■ The programme opened with a selection by the Pipe Band. Mrs. Potter sang 'Mountain Lovers" and "The Songs My Mother Sang." Mr/ F. Ormrod played a cornet solo, "Alice Where Art Thou." Miss Griffin sang "When I; Grow Too Old to Dream" and "My Dream.' An exhibition Scottish reel by eight'pupils of Miss Adeline Burnette, accompanied by' the whole Pipe Band, was much appreciated. The Highland 'Fling was given as an encore. Miss Went sang "Bird Songs at Eventide" and "I Hear a Thrush at Eve.'.Miss,Shona Bennetts's item was a Russian dance, "Czardas." A' saxophone trio of the Revellers' Orchestra proved highly popular. ,Mr Bennett sang "The Sergeant-Major" and "The Admiral's Story." An Irish Reel to stirring Irish strains provided by PipeMajor C. Stewart, danced by four colleens in national costume, was followed as an encore, number by the Irish Jig. Mr. Ray Trewern sang "You are My Heart's Delight,*? "Haere Tonu," and "Beneath Thy Window." Another double encore was demanded of the Revellers' Orchestra after their piaying of Scottish airs. An exhibition Highland' Reel was given, and as an encore the Reel of Tulloch was danced, Mr. N. Grenfell sang "Bells of the Sea" and "A Hundred Pipers." The Pipe Band concluded the programme with two selections, the audienco then joining in the singing of "AuldLang Syne" and-"God Save the King."
