• NEW PLYMOUTH, August 3. Appreciation of the high standafd^of play and conduct off the field of the English Rugby League team during its Australian tour was contained in a letter from the Australian Board of Control, received by the manager, Mr. R. Anderton, on the team's arrival at New Plymouth tonight. ' The letter was read by Mr. Anderton at a civic reception' tendered the team.

"I have been instructed to tender you'the congratulations of the board on the financial and playing records of your team in 'Australia," stated the secretary of the board. "Your share of the gate receipts has amounted to £19,351 12s, against £16,087 6s 3d on the previous tour, an increase of £3264 5s 9d."
