MR. WILLIAM GOODFELLOW

AUCKLAND, This Day. Among the passengers by the Aorangi which arrived from Vancouver this afternoon was Mr. William Goodfellow, managing director of Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., who returned from a business trip to England. He was met by Mr. H. R. McKenzie, of Pokeno, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Mr. C. J. Parlane, of Hamilton, general manager of the company, and others interested in the dairying industry. PHENOMENAL TRADE RECOVERY.

Mr. Goodfellow said he was greatly impressed by the phenomenal trade recovery that had taken place in Britain since his previous visit five years ago. Questioned about New Zealand prices, Mr. Goodfellow said the increasing prosperity in Britain would be reflected in better prices for1 our dairy products and other goods not already restricted by import quotas. Such goods had already obtained increased prices, but the policy now favoured in Britain indicated some modification of restrictions in favour of tariffs. The too-drastic restriction of bacon imports from Europe had resulted in the retail prices of bacon being raised too high for the masses to buy:
