LUNG OPERATION ON CHILD /
NEW YORK, August-1.
Kelvin Rogers, the Australian child who came to America'to have a nail removed from his lung, sailed with his mother for Australia today.
Before her departure Mrs. Rogers informed friends that she was greatly surprised by the speed and casualness of the operation. Kelvin was taken, from her in the hospital ante-room for what she believed was an X-ray examination, but the youngster was returned to her ih seven minutes, very red-faced but otherwise undisturbed. The nail had already been removed.
Physicians associated with Dr. Jackson, inventor of the bronchoscope, intimate that he was displeased when news about the speed of the operation became knpwn. He indicated that he had the highest regard for the surgical ability of Australian physicians, and feared that reports of the operation would be considered as a reflection on them. Actually the hospital declined to make any announcement, and, while it is believed that Dr. Jackson-operated, it is impossible to obtain official confirmation. .
