BURMA CIVIL SERVICE

(British Official Wireless.)

RUGBY, August 1. It is announced that on the separation of Burma from India, the Indian Civil Service and the Indian Police will cease to supply officers required in the higher grades of the Burma administration and their place will be taken by officers recruited into two new corresponding services to be known as the Burma Civil Service (class 1) and the Burma Police (class 1) respectively. The appointment of such officers will, until Parliament otherwise determines, be made by the Secretary of State.
