SMALLEST IN TWELVE YEARS

OTTAWA, August 1. Canada today ended its crop year with the lowest wheat carry-over in eight years, and with indications that the current crop will be the smallest in twelve years, as drought continues to scorch the prairies.

Farm authorities estimated the carry-over at about 11,200,000 bushels, with the new harvest at less than 250,000,000 bushels. Some estimates place the new crop as low as 215..000..000 bushels.
