SOUTHLAND INVASION

' INVERCARGILL, July 31. The advance guards of Southland's invasion left today, which marked the end of an extremely busy week for the railway booking staff at Invercargill. Six special trains will run to Dunedin.
Every seat was taken on two special trains which left this evening, while the usual afternoon express, which carried the challenging team, was also well filled. There were ten cars on the 6.50 p.m. train, but extra cars had to be added to this evening's 7.20 special, bringing its complement to 19. The two trains carried 1073 enthusiasts; The four special trains for tomorrow have been fully booked. At the Invercargill booking office 1300 people have reserved seats, but this number should be more than doubled by passengers from Woodlands and Edendale. It is expected that nearly 4000 will travel by rail.
