PEASANTS' GIFT TO CANADA

PARIS, July 31,

Local peasants are presenting a sack of wheat grown on the plain of Vimy to Canadian legionaries in token of gratitude to the Canadians for defending their homes in the Artois district. The wheat will be sown at Gaspe, Quebec, from where ths First Canadians came to France in 1914. A memorial field in Canada will thus be created.
