Customs: figures for July, with, comparative-figures for the same month in 1935 in parentheses:— Customs duty, £62,952 (£54,548); beer duty, £20,026 (£18,388); sales, tax,----£22,757 (£20,632); petrol tax, £13,734 (£9809); tire tax, £931 (£708); gold tax, £1367 (£2367). The returns for the first four months of the current financial year, together with comparative figures for the corresponding period of last year, are as follows:—Customs duty, £226.289 (£208,459); beer duty, £78,061 (£69,640); sales tax, £92,563 (£81,135); petrol Aax,. £52,666, (£50,931); tire tax, $2789 : (£2902); gold : tax, £7656' (£7796).
