TRAFFIC OFFICERS
The Brougham Street Assembly Hall was the scene of gaiety and colour last; evening on the occasion of the Wellington Municipal Traffic Officers' benefit dance in aid cf the Free Ambulance. The hall was decorated with gay artificial flowers, and large figures of Mickey and.Minnie Mouse were posted round the room at intervals. On the stage, jfrom which an excellent orchestra played, there were two huge Mickey Mice-with Popeye the sailor man keeping guard. . ■ . ■
A burlesque "Hold-up" dance, which preceded the novelty dance, "Violation of Traffic Rules," provided much amusement. Tap dances were given by Miss Allentire (in green ninon and silver) and Miss Hazel, Martin (who wore blue velvet shorts and jacket). Both these items were loudly applauded.
.An excellent supper was set out in the supper-room which was decorated with streamers, and the tables) had vases of Australian and New Zealand wattle placed on them. The official party comprised Mr. and Mrs. Roffe (the latter in black velvet trimmed with gold flowers), Mr. and Mrs. Drake (Marina blue satin with shell-pink spray), Mr. and Mrs. Me-
Crone (black chiffon with silver lame collar). Miss D. Roffe (blue satin). Mr. E. P. Norman, and Mr. G. Parsons. ! The energetic committee to.whom the ! success of the dance was due comprised the following:—Mr. W. MclCeen (secretary), Mr. and Mrs. Tickler (the latter in blue panne velvet), Mr. and. JMrs. Broughton (black satin). Mr. and [Mrs. Redding (.bottle green marocain), j Mr. and Mrs. Hood, (black satin and lace), Mr. Seaton (mauve georgette), and Messrs. F. Coles, P. Mills, J. Suckling, J. Bailey, and J. Avery. ' Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. C. Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. Ives, Mr. and Mrs. Menzies, Mr. and Mrs. O'Neill, Mr. and Mrs. Overend, Mrs. Muhn, Mr. and Mrs. J.
