COSTUMES ARRIVE

THE "NEW MOON" COMPANY

Unusual interest was evidenced among the members of the Wellington Qperatic and Theatrical Society today when tee Wanganella brought from Sydney the costumes and scenery for their latest production, the lovely comic opera, "New Moon," which will be played ior ten nights at the Opera House next month. There are about 120 people in the cast, so that matter of costumes is no small order, and there are also eleven different scenes. Both the costumes and the scenery are those of the original ''New Moon" company that had such a successful season in Wellington in 1930. Mr. Harlson'Cook is the producer. Miss Alma eiegg is the leading lady, and Mr. Russell Laurenson the leading man. .There are many well-known young people in the chorus, and Mr. Joseph Knowsley, whojust recently returned from America, is directing the ballets.' Last night the company were seen; rehearsing the second act of the first scene in the Returned Soldiers' Association social hall, and although they were putting in very hard and impressive work they also appeared to be getting a lot of fun out of it. Mr. Hanson Cook was calm and confident, and, during pauses, while the principals were rehearsing individually, the "chorus" girls calmly sat down and knitted?
