Dr. arid Mrs. H. L. Widdpwson 'arrived in Wellington this morning from Christchurch on their way to Wanganu^, where Dr. Widdowson will take over his new; position of superintendent of the hospital. ;

Professor Ana.G. Strong, of the Unf versity of Otago, has been awarded a bronze medal by the Carnegie Corporation of New York in recognition of her help, in its work. She has also been honoured by the American Dietetic Association by being enrolled as a -member of that institution. •'•■'
News is to hand that Miss M. H. Ward, £ Wellington masseuse, will be returning to New Zealand in about six months' time: During the past fifteen months she has been visiting England, undergoing a refresher course. She recently passed an examination in "Light," which brought her the opportunity of invaluable'experience in some of England's best-known clinics.' Miss Ward has been doing work also in a baby clinic in Southwark, the Pets' Place Clinic for rheumatism, and the British, Bed Cross Clinic for rheumatism at Kensington.

A cable has been received at the national office of the Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand, advising of. the death in Shanghai of Miss Mary Ting, National Secretary of the Y.W.C.A; of China. For some years past it has been the policy of the .Y.W.C.A. of China to put its leadership in the hands of a Chinese woman and to associate with her an American.woman. Miss Ting has been one of the most noted among the women leaders in China. .
