FAIR TO CLOUDY
MILDER WEATHER SOON
Special forecast for Wellington:— Light to moderate and variable winds; later northerlies predominating. Weather, fair to cloudy, and becoming milder. The forecast is for mainly light to moderate and variable winds, southeasterlies predominating about and north of Cook Strait. The weather will be fair to fine in most districts and rather milder, but a few isolated showers are still probable in the extreme north and north-east and about Foveaux Strait.
An anticyclone still extends across the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, but it has been losing in intensity, while pressure has risen further to the north. Strong easterlies have continued to blow in the extreme north, but otherwise winds have been mainly light to moderate in force, with southerlies or south-easterlies prevailing over the North Island and variables in the south.
Fair to fine weather has been experienced generally but there has been much cloud at times in districts with an easterly aspect and a few isolated showers have occurred in the far north and north-east parts of the North Island, and on the far southern coast.
Fair weather with light south-easterly winds has continued at Auckland.
Wellington had a fine calm day yesterday, although there were only 2.4 hours of sunshine.
It has been fine but mostly cloudy in Christchurch, with a light breeze chiefly from the north-east.
At Dunedin yesterday the weather was calm and dull. The sky cleared last night, however, and this morning was bright and sunny.
