LADY PINNEY
VISITING HER SON
One, of the most animated and interested of the passengers on the Makura when she berthed this morning was Lady Pinney, the wife of Sir Reginald Pinney, X.C.8., of Dorset, who has come to New Zealand to visit her son. Lady Pinney said that she was making her first visit to New Zealand, but had an interest in the country as her brother, Major B. Head, had climbed Mt. Aspiring in pre-war days and had served with the Samoan Expeditionary Force. He was killed later in the war.
Her son had come from his university to take a position at Christ's College, Christchurch, some years ago, said Lady Pinney, and was now residing in North Otago, so she had decided to come out to see him. Except for a brief stay at Washington she had come direct from England so that she could spend about three months in the Dominion.
