SHEFFIELD SHIELD

BRADMAN DOMINATES PLAY

MELBOURNE, January 1

Don Bradman dominated the first day of play in the Sheffield Shield game between South Australia and Victoria, in which South Australia made 349 for five wickets (Bradman 229 not out, Parker 63). His display, although more restrained than usual, delighted the crowd.

Badcock was unable to play for South Australia owing to a hand injury. Ebeling, after bowling four overs, left the field with a torn muscle in the back.
