The first day of the Greymouth Jockey Club's Summer Meeting was held in fine, hot weather today. The track was In excellent order and thero was a largo attendance. The totalisator handled £7087, computed with £3948 for the corresponding day last year, an increase of £3139. Results:—

Jolly Beggar being tailed oil. Entering the back Sea Fox met a bad interference, dropping back just as .lolly Beggar made a forward move. Over the last throe- furlongs Jolly Beggar ran over everything, taking the lead two furlongs from the post and winning easily by three lengths Trom Mclleath, who finished fast to beat Locksley and Ron Bay.
