SUCCESS AT LONG LAST
The persistent trot against T. R. George's horses finally came to an end when Hine Ra won the Electric Hack Handicap narrowly from Lacquer. Hine Ra thus completed a double for Mr. R. J. Murphy, though Acceptable hails from a different Trentham establishment.
Hine Ra ran up on the inner of Gasman and Lacquer to have charge at the end of a furlong, and though Lacquer challenged her resolutely down the straight she held on to her advantage to win by a head. Hme Ra, who is a three-year-old half-sister by Iliad to Acceotable, has become very solid, and since her transfer from Riccarton she has won three races in four starts within a month. Lacquer, who gave promise in her only start at Awapuni. was easily second best. Caen came from last to cut Gasman out of third money a length further away. Zionist was right up though last. Marsong was left at the start and took no part in the race.
