GOOD OUTING AT TAUHERENIKAU
\ew Year's Day is a racing festival, and yesterday eight meetings were held—at Auckland, Hastings, Stratford, Marlon, Tauhcrenikau, Greymoulli, Waikouaiti, and Wyndham^ The Wairarapa Racing Club's Meeting at Tauhcrcnikau is a popular outing for Wellington people, and a large city contingent, encouraged by the line weather, made a sporting picnic of it. The Canterbury Park Trotting Cluß's Meeting also opened at Christchurcli. The principal race at Auckland, the Great Northern Derby, was easily won by Greek Shepherd. This meeting will conclude today.
