OUR THEATRE, NEWTOWN
In R.K.0.-Radio's thrilling drama, "Strangers All," May Robson is a mother struggling through tragedy to hold together her family and win happiness and harmony out of the calamities that overtook her children. Preston Foster is co-starred. The grim determination of youth in its efforts to gain an education against almost insurmountable odds forms the stirring theme of "A Girl of the Limberlost," which is the second attraction. Marion Marsh, Ralph Morgan, and Louise Dresser have the leading roles.
One British town, Comrie. in Perthshire, has had an earthquake nearly every day—and the inhabitants take no notice. They are caused, as was the earthquake in Leigh, Lancashire, recently, by a slip, probably not more than one-hundredth part of an inch, in the rocky strata of the earth's surface. From Bolton, Lancashire, to Boynton, Cheshire, there is a geological formation known as the Pendleton Fault. This moves oil occasion, and Leigh, as its centre, felt the tremor. "There is no cause for worry," Mr. J. J. Shaw, the West Bromwich seismologist, said. "Few earthquakes are caused by volcanoes, as is generally believed. Most result from a movement of tho rocky strata." London, resting on a cushion of clay, is immune from these minor shocks.
