ELISABETH RISDON.
Elisabeth Risdon, one of the best known Broadway actresses, who is now under contract to Columbia, was assigned recently to an important role in the company's first Ruth Chatterton starring production, as yet untitled. Miss Risdon made her talking picture debut in "Guard That Girl," and will also be seen-in. "Crime and Punishment," which has just been completed under the direction of Josef yon Sternberg. Otto Kruger will play»opposite the star, while Marian Marsh, Lionel Atwill, Lloyd Nolan, and Robert Allen have already been engaged for feature parts. Marion Gering is the director. Miss Risdon, prior to her becoming one of Columbia'-s' noted contract players, was associated with the New York Theatre Guild for ten years, as one of that organisation's leading women. Among some of her vehicles were "Strange Interlude." "Elizabeth the Queen," "The Silver Cord," and "Laburnum Grove," in all of which she played the lead throughout their tours.
