OBITUARY
MR. ALFRED REID
A Press Association message from Hastings announces the death of Mr. Alfred Reid, for many years auctioneer for Messrs. Williams and Kettle and one of the best-known personalities among farmers, stock-dealers, and sportsmen 'in Hawke's Bay.
Mr. Reid was born in the Wanganui district in October, 1851. His father owned a farm, which afterwards was known as Fordell. He went to Hawke's Bay in 1890, subsequently joining the firm of Messrs. Williams and Itettle, He was an active member of the Jockey Club and the Agricultural and Pastural Society, and a great lover of hurdle horses. He is survived by his wife, who is a daughter of the late Major. Durie. for many years resident Magistrate at Wanganui.
